Special inspection — IBC Chapter 17

The Ohio Building Code requires the owner or the owner's representative — not the contractor — to retain approved special inspectors for designated work. The statement of special inspections is a condition of plan approval, and a final report of special inspection is required before occupancy.

Program administration

What the building official expects

A special inspection program is a documentation obligation as much as a field one. We administer the record from the pre-construction meeting through the final report.

  • Statement of special inspections administration
  • Pre-construction meeting participation
  • Discrepancy notices issued at the time of observation
  • Corrective-action tracking to closure
  • Final report of special inspection for the building official
